Aryna Sabalenka concluded the season with an impressive 23-3 Grand Slam match record.

The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second successive year.

The 27-year-old captured four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – including retaining the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles title.

A Year of Consistency

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka reached a tour-best nine championship matches, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The Belarusian also claimed victory at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the entire year as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.

This past summer, she became the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.

Record-Breaking Numbers

Sabalenka finished the season with a 63-12 match record, and earned a historic eleven million pounds in prize money.

She received nearly 80% of the votes cast by global tennis journalists.

On 28 December, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "elevate women's tennis to a greater prominence".

  • Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after making five finals.
