The relatives of young people lost after a devastating inferno at a bar in a Switzerland's ski resort are facing an painful wait for confirmed information and pleading for clues about their family members publicly.

The inferno ripped through the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the Swiss Alps of the Valais region, in the small hours of New Year's Day. Verified video reveal the roof structure being engulfed in flames as bottles with sparklers are held aloft.

Officials have indicated that it could take considerable time to identify the victims of the fire, which claimed the lives of 40 people and injured another 119. A spokesperson said on the latest update that 113 of the injured have been identified, with the process continuing to name the final individuals.

In the meantime, families and friends have been using online platforms to plead for information about their missing relatives who were in attendance that evening.

Desperate Searches for the Unaccounted For

The whereabouts of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are not yet determined, according to an appeal from his mother.

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Swiss and Greek nationality but lives permanently in the country, was also at the bar on New Year's Eve, according to reports.

Her brother has published an urgent request on social media, saying the relatives has had "no updates" regarding the teenager or the group she was with, who are also reported missing.
