Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night indicating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The team did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a set of images on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
