Kai Trump can count on numerous high-profile cheerleaders as she makes her professional golf debut later this week.

This teenage golfer, who happens to be related to a former US president, received a special exemption to compete at Florida's Annika event in the Sunshine State.

Her grandfather, an avid golfer, owns multiple golf courses and often competes against his granddaughter.

"He's quite skilled. I can't say much but we play tight competitions," she revealed.

Kai explained that Trump, unable to come, counseled her: "Just stay calm."

"My grandpa basically advised me to play and enjoy myself," she explained.

"To me, he's simply a regular grandfather. He's not attending this weekend. He's busy with presidential duties, making him quite busy."

As an amateur, the golfer has played in just three tournaments recently and maintains the 461st position in the American Junior Golf Association listings.

Yet she can seek guidance from 15-time major champion, who is dating her mother.

"He is the top athlete in the world," Kai expressed.

"Additionally, he's an even better human being. He told me to play, relax, and go with the flow."

The golfer will compete against some of most prominent players in the sport at the competition, featuring world number two the champion, England's Charley Hull, professional Thompson and last year's winner Lilia Vu.

Tournament organizers commented that involving Kai helps introduce golf to wider groups, especially with youth audiences.

Kai maintains a massive following and just introduced her own apparel and wellness brand.

The competition starts at late afternoon GMT.
